About Circle Street Books

Circle Street Books was formed around the idea of expanding Circa1984 Records to incorporate a wider range of media, books being amongst them. It was during this reform that the Circal was born, and Circle Street Books became it's second arm.

Publishing books has always been a dream of mine, to be able to see the creations of myself and friends in print, to hold and feel them. The book that made this dream a reality was My First DJQuake Anthology, being the first one we had printed and being the first official release. But, it's roots lay in being a test-run. Although it turned out really well, and was a much cooler event than I anticipated, it's purpose was to test the waters of what we could and couldn't do, if we could make this wole books thing work so that I could try my hand at the idea I'd had in mind for a few months.

The idea eventually became Circus; bring together my friends in a celebration of words and pictures, to create a collaborative book with no set theme or structure. Anybody could put forward whatever they wanted. With DJQuake we'd used a rather expensive, limiting company; we'd learned our lesson (which is partly why the book is being redone) and changed to a different printing company for the second book. Not only is it more flexible in terms of what we can make, it also works out a lot cheaper for the people who want to purchase copies.

Although we only have two books at present, we're hoping to expand this considerably within the coming years. As such, we are eagerly accepting submissions for solo books and further Circus-style collaborations. Contact us for more information.
