Artists: Akira

Biography
Richard Boulton began his foray into electronic music at the Goodwin house, after observing Terry working. Initially utilising the same tools, he adopted a similar working practice but with a heavy experimental bent. The resultant music displayed layers upon layers of sound which could, at first, be construed as perhaps unlistenable, but repeated, careful listening uncovered its great depths. Often, Richard's output would involve a single input sound, run through a myriad of interconnected and elaborate effects passes to create sounds muddied or crystal clear, flat or infinitely dynamic.

He joined with Terry to form Ak ira/uma, which typically saw Akira creating a bed of sounds on which Terry's, often melancholy, strings could rest. They appeared together on the compilation album One Frame at a Time, contributing three tracks.

Richard Boulton is now serving a mission for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, and is currently in his second year of two. Upon his return in 2006, we can guarantee some excellent new material.
